Gabriel Soto’s work revolves around the collection and use of found images from various time periods and cultures. Political propaganda, vintage photography, and architectural structures such as houses, farms, and industrial machinery are among his most recent sources of visual inspiration. The works function as diagrams, conceptually mapping notions of history and ontology while exploring themes of labor, language, and Platonic philosophy. Soto’s studio practice is an effort to analyse history and metaphysics through a diagrammatic language which develops further as he makes more images.
