Gustavo Fernandes

Gustavo Costa Fernandes was born in Porto, Portugal, in 1983. Having graduated from Central Saint Martins (London) in 2008, he has since maintained his art practice, focusing on painting and printmaking (mainly mono-prints), taking on figurative elements and bringing them to a more symbolic, ambiguous place. In parallel to this practice he has collaborated with institutions such as the Tate Modern and Whitechapel Gallery on book editions and exhibitions of the work of such artists as Malevich, Mark Dion, or Giacometti. He has exhibited through solo and group exhibitions at galleries such as Bankside, Menier and Coningsby (London), Dentro and Buraco (Porto).
