Jimei Wang

Born in Harbin in 1997, Wang’s paintings seem like they would escape from any existing definition of contemporary art. Characterized by mythological elements and dynamic creatures inside magical paintings, Wang continually seeks a way to express pain and healing of the human body.

Wang employs numerous materials independent of each other like pigments, wood, glass, and wax. The chaotic sense of tableau is invariably made up of non-binary beings, which tend to let the underlying cause emerge, the thought of gender. The paintings make the audience observe the world behind a romantic and poetic filter, however there are strong standpoints and a desire to think more about the origin of ourselves.
