Bold and aggressive color in vibrating hues are hallmarks of Yourick’s works. Generous marks of patterned, thick paint provide a pointillism reference that is accentuated with highly textured surfaces. Her use of colour is influenced by the Fauve movement and her contemporary landscapes speak to Wolf Kahn’s liberal use of color vibration.

Yourick works in plein air yet shifts the traditional notion of plein air work by encouraging an intensity that reaches beyond conventional landscape representation. The subject matter of her work engages the viewers’ senses in the highest form of color experience, and provides more descriptive symbolism that is associated with passage, safety, hope, and expectation.
