Jennifer Morrison searches in her work by way of posing a question. Two very different approaches to painting overlap on one surface. It is almost like two parts of herself sitting alongside each other. Gestural, energetic brushstrokes sit alongside considered marks made with deliberation and patience. Speed and slowness are found together on one square canvas. She works intuitively without any preparatory drawings. The visual impact, for her, is paramount. It is far more important, in her opinion, than subject matter. She is far more interested in how a painting is made, and in the experience it gives her, than in its ostensible subject.
