Errol Theunissen

Born 1973 in Harare, Zimbabwe | Lives in works in Middlesbrough, UK

Errol Theunissen is a self taught painter and illustrator, whose works often incorporate scenes depicted from his immediate everyday environment and home life. Errol finds beauty in personal memories and the close encounters with the places and people dear to him. Errol incorporates and plays with colour palettes and sometimes introduces mixed media to emphasise humour, language or various imagery. Despite emigrating to the UK from Zimbabwe, Errol expresses his close ties and roots in Africa. His work is often raw and playful with a child-like authenticity that emanates from the canvas.
