Lucienne O’Mara’s painting deals with questions surrounding perception, both in a visual and literal act of seeing and from a more abstract, conceptual point of view in regards to our perception of reality. O’Mara is interested in the act of looking and how our assumptions and pre-existing knowledge informs our understanding of the world around us. O’Mara looks closely at the gaps between things; and wonders if we can define the intervals and gaps between our awareness. The idea of borders and meeting points is another significant theme for the artist regarding the consequences of the current political climate.
