Robert van de Graaf’s paintings explore mysticism and spirituality. His work is often inspired by mythology, storytelling and philosophy. Van de Graaf is inspired by old master paintings by artists such as El Greco, translating them into contemporary interpretations. The paintings aim to elicit an intensity directed back at the viewer to draw their own conclusions, observations and self introspection.
