Bo Lanyon

Born 1981 in Cornwall, UK | Lives and works in Bristol, UK

Bo Lanyon’s paintings explore an entangled landscape of experience. Blending the history and gestures of abstraction with condensed, contemporary figuration, the works resemble densely interconnected navigations of colour, atmosphere and sensation. From the shared euphoria of communion on a dancefloor to immersion in nature, the work explores questions around our core human desire to connect. Lanyon’s work borrows an approach to composition much like the layering of sounds, blending elements, references and forms to push towards an emotional connection with the audience.
