Susan Grace

Susan Grace is a painter who was born in Missouri, USA and after working in Athens, Greece, now lives in Lawrence, Kansas. Her work has received numerous awards and has been widely exhibited throughout the U.S. Although she studied painting in Athens, her academic background is primarily in literature and theatre, which she taught at various universities until she left academic life for a full-time studio practice. Her study of literature and theatre continues to inspire and influence her work, which mainly focuses on the figure. She moves freely between representation and abstraction while using fragmentation and the layering of separate images to create multiple possibilities for interpretation and experience.
